The Inkblots by Damion Searls

In the field of psychology there is the testing. I am talking about Myers-Briggs, MMPI, Free Association, and the Inkblots also known as Rorschach.
All have meaning and all have a purpose. Freud emphasized words and his overlay was sexual repression which was understandable seeing how Freud came from the Victorian period. Another practicing psychologist who wanted to help people was Carl Jung who based his theories on association. And then we have Hermann Rorschach who was interested in perceptions. He was looking to read people.
He developed what became known as Ink Blots. The ink blots are holistic. Each Inkblot has a meaning.
Just who was this Hermann Rorschach and how were the ten Inkblots developed and standardized?
It is an interesting story and this book gives you the up to date findings.
You start out this book with the biography. Then you move into the fate of the ink blots after the death of Rorschach up to the present day.
It is an easy to read book and should be of interest to students of psychology and maybe people interested in the Inkblots.
I enjoyed this book. Having been sent this book gratis from Bloggingforbooks.org to be reviewed I was not required to give a positive review in order to maintain the relationship. All I was required to do was read it and review it.
   It retails for $28.00.

The Entitlement Cure by Dr. John Townsend

It is a problem we have now. It is the feeling someone owns you a good life without you having to give anything in return. The scary thing to realize is that all of us to a certain extent carry around entitlement feelings
A person must realize there are two ways to go face to face with daily life. You could decide to roll up your sleeve and work to get what you need or you could take the laid back easy way of taking shortcuts to get rewarded.
There is a song that has the words “nothing comes from nothing. Nothing ever will.” This is true.
One way is known as the hard way and the other is just drifting.
There are things that can be done to counteract the entitlement feelings. Dr. John Townsend offers this book and suggestions for that reason.
This is an easy read and also a probing read. A person may see himself in the discussion. This is good. If you can identify, you can change.
Townsend develops the problem and offers an easy to follow cure in fifteen chapters. All humans need to read this book. It may be exactly what they have been looking for.
This book was sent to me free from book look bloggers for the purpose of review.

Read This And Things May Be Better Than Before

For those of us who are bothered by our habits here is a book for us.
We are creatures of habit. Habits can help and they can hinder us. Habits can speed time or slow time.
Habits are the architecture of life. Studies have shown that 40 percent of our behavior is repeated daily and mostly in the same context. So if we wish to change our life we should look at chancing our habits.
Rubin has written a book to help us use our habits to make the best life possible for ourselves. Change habits and change life. This may be the right book to have in your library to help you
Habits are able to help us be as near perfect as we can be.
It is not always easy to modify our habits. If it were everyone would be doing it and there would be no reason for anyone to write a whole 295 page book. Everyone would follow a magic formula and all would be right with the world.
To change we must first know a bit about ourselves. Humans can’t be put in a compartment and mass produced. We are all in one way different and in another way the same. We are all unique like everybody else.
Rubin suggests we all have temperaments that place us in one of four types. The types are Upholders, Questioners, Obligers, and rebels. None wrong, just the way you form habits. She presents twenty-one habit changing strategies that can allow a person to put the new self knowledge gained by reading this book.
Read this book and see if maybe you can master your habits and change your life to something better than before.
That is Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin. It is put out by Crown Publishers.
