Fire Prophet by Jerel Law

           Around us is another realm, a realm of angels and spirits. In this realm there is a battle going on for the minds of men. This realm Law refers to as the hidden realm, a world-beyond-the-world.

            What if there are off springs of angels and mortals as the Bible speaks about in Genesis  6:2, these people known as nephilim, half human and half angels.?  What if these off springs were able to step from this realm to the hidden realm to fight spiritual battles?

            This is the premise of this series by Law known as “Sons of Angels.” This book being the second in the series for young adults.

            The demons want to destroy the offspring of the Nephilim. These offspring are the protectors of the world against spiritual attacks.

            The theme of this series is spiritual warfare. In this part of the story the young  children train their gifts and engage in warfare.

            I have always enjoyed young adult fiction as the genre lends itself to imparting truth in an easy to digest manner.. I hold that there is spiritual warfare going on and the realm of the spirits is real.

The author was able to hold my attention all the way through.

            The series is in answer to the Olympians series by Percy Jackson. I think it holds a good chance of competing in readership.

.I would recommend this to all young adults, especially to young Christians. It will be one to talk up among friends.

Called To Controversy by Ruth Rosen

   God has the habit of using ordinary people sold out to Him.God just uses people sold out to him. Such was a man known as Moishe Rosen who God used to turn Jewish Evangelism on its' heels. It wasn't his dream to start a new movement. I am sure he would have been content staying with the American Board Of Missions To The Jews, but his ideas pushed him out of the nest, so to speak.

      I found this biography by Ruth Rosen, one of the daughters of Moishe, to be an exciting and informative book. There just aren't enough books of ordinary people who let God use them in extraordinary ways. I am happy that Thomas Nelson decided to publish this book.
     Rosen has a pace of writing that moves you along. She uses the techniques of foreshadowing and  humor in the telling of the life of her father She doesn't gloss over Moise's weaknesses. After all, she lived with him and saw him with his warts.There are lots of memories of people who worked with him and were mentored by him weaved into the story. Rosen makes use of direct quotes and first hand intertviews gathered in her research.
      I recommend this book. Even those who think they know him will be pleasantly drawn along with the story.

Tyndale Biography

 
    The book is "Tyndale: The Man Who Gave God an English Voice" by David Teems.

     If you can have only one book on Tyndale in your library, this may be the one. The author , David Teems, shows some love for the period that Tyndale lived in. He also shows a deep interest in the Reformation and how it came to England.
    Tyndale was a contemporary of Martin Luther (Not the civil rights guy) and  Henry VIII also with Thomas More and Shakespeare.
    It was Tyndale who brought the Scriptures into England and translated the Scripture into that mother tongue. He had to do it in secret because the Roman church was so strong in those days; they controled the scripture. No one was allowed to touch it except for the priests.
    It was Tyndale who gave us the flowing pace of the scripture passages we know and love and memorize today.. And he did it from the Greek. He didn"t have any other translations to build upon. Yes, Wycliffe had a translation. But that was from the Latin text and in middle English. Tyndale gives us a modern English translation.
     Today we can look back at the translation we have. All this is welcome to Tyndale.
     The attempts Sir Thomas More, the lap dog of HenryVIII, used to discredit Tytndale are mentioned here also.
      It wasn"t easy bringing out a English translation in those days. Tydale can even be credited with bringing the reformation to England. Germany had Luther. Geneva had Calvin. But England had Tyndale.
      I recommend this book highly for an easy to read and flowing story.

Nearing Home By Billy Graham

         The great author called unknown has penned this advice: "Plan for the golden years. You may get to experience them." The Bible says,"There is a time for everything under the sun" As age happens to all of us. There is no way we can escape it. Some people age gracefully and others not so gracefully. Dr. Graham has aged gracefully.

            In this book he provides us with an easy to understand exploration of what aging is and how to comfront it. Of course he provides biblical and pastoral guidance on the journey called aging.
            I found this to be a comforting book The information is presented in Graham's informative style. . It has inspired me to face my aging with hope. Dr. Graham doesn't offer an escape but a vision of hope. For those of us who are Christians the hope is a future with God with no pain or sickness or aging. For those of us who don't know God he offers steps you can take to be assured that you also can be with God when you move through death. 
        I recommend this book to the young to comfort them in the aging process. I recommend this book to the elder to assure them that they still have something to contribute.

Dr Leman's recent book

The most recent book of Dr. Leman is called "Have a New Teenager by Friday".I found this to be a very enjoyable and informative book. If you have a teenager or are about to soon have one, this is the book you should read. Respect is hard to get from a child of any age. The process starts at an early age. leman gives things to do to help the teenager survive the years between 11 and 19. Every teenager is different. it just comes with the territory. but you are the couch. You are the boss. Don't forget that. This enjoyable book will help you make it through and have a human child on the ride. That is a child that is respectable and enjoyable.

Has God Spoken? by Hank Hanegraaff

   In twenty two chapters Hank Hanegraaff, the Bible Answer Man, has handled the theological area of the Bible's divine inspiration in an easy to read and understand manner. A person doesn't have to take a  seminary course to understand the doctrine.
   The book gives the reader facts that can be used in discussion with doubters, Hanegraaff gives us rules to follow as we read the Scriptures  He also includes a Bible study method called 'Legacy"we can use to read through the Bible in a years time.

    It is an enjoyable read. At times it makes one stop and think. After all, The Bible is a very important document and should be an ever present tool. This book provides the assurance needed for the "worker who does not need to be ashamed". Hanegraaff  has successfully conveyed this Biblical truth.

   It held my attention as this subject of the Bible and its veracity is important to me. A person wants to be assured that the tool he is using is the best it can be. The information presented is done in a progressive,well thought out fashion.

   I would recommend this book for the Christian as well as for the seeker.
